Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Half Marathon

Tangent Dubai Sales Manager, his wife, and the wife of the Tangent Dubai Operations Director take part in the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Half Marathon for cause close to their heart.

The idea of running the RAK Half Marathon for Connorthon.com seemed a very sensible idea back in October when we signed up for it. At 04.00hrs on a Friday morning in early February, it seemed a lot less sensible... But there I was being driven to Ras Al Khaimah by the Ops Director as part of the Tangent Team for Connor Rutherford.

Connor is the youngest son of our close friends previously of Dubai and now of Melbourne, Australia. Connor was born prematurely but led a normal life for his first year. Back in Australia, Connor went in to hospital for a standard procedure, during which he suffered a drawn-out cardiac arrest that caused long-term oxygen depletion and, ultimately, brain damage.

We all felt we could make a difference and so Sarah Delbecq, Leonie Wilkinson and myself took to the start line with an air of apprehension, but positivity at the funds we were raising. All three parties battled heat, fatigue and aching limbs to finish the race together, and in doing so raising over 3,000AUD for a very worthy cause. Thank you to all who donated and thank you to Leonie and Sarah for supporting me through this unpleasant experience!
